Hemp, whose botanical name is Cannabis sativa L. is one of the plants known and used by man for the longest time. It is argued that it was first used as a plant intended to propitiate divination rites rather than for agricultural uses (fiber, paper or nourishment). In fact, there are several and more ancient archaeological sites that included residues of the plant, in contexts of curative or religious uses.

Until almost 20 years ago, hemp, or rather Cannabis, was used for its ability to produce almost exclusive molecules (cannabinoids), with typical narcotic or therapeutic properties (anti-inflammatory, healing or analgesic). The substances were used as a whole (phytocomplex) as it continues to do with almost all plants for phytotherapeutic use.

In fact, most of the vegetable raw materials are collected in natural or cultivated environments, but always from scarcely selected natural populations.

Only a few sources of plant active ingredients, such as those derived from opium poppy, euphorbia, digitalis, hops and cephalotaxin have been selected to the point of producing stable and uniform chemical profiles.

For example, for Stevia rebaudiana , vegetatively reproduced genotypes (varieties) have been selected to prevent variations in the genetic profile and consequently the chemical profile from being induced with the production of the seeds.

It will operate by stimulating research, collecting and disseminating information, providing technical-methodological advice, encouraging and encouraging the training of qualified personnel, organizing and maintaining relations with Italian and foreign associations or companies that have common objectives.
